Stories are the backbone of modern civilisation and are essential for passing on wisdom, creating empathy, sharing emotions, unburdening ourselves, finding healing, giving shelf-life to legacy, and adding to humanity’s historical collective.
From Jesus’s parables to Aesop’s fables, stories teach morality, display dignity, find connection, touch hearts, and open minds like a powerful wand, healing the reader and author.
Shakespeare urged us to express our sorrows to keep our hearts from breaking, while D.H. Lawrence said that we shed our sickness in books. I tell, write, and share stories about real people.
