And that is not a threat, but a promise, for if you’re still sitting with the ashes of what your life has been, know for sure, God isn’t done.
Thank you for reading this post, don’t forget to subscribe!Let me take a step back…on Monday, the walls came crashing down on me. In my previous post, I mentioned some of the areas in my life which were under attack…for years. Then, I drew the line and said to the devil, “No more!”
And how has God not stepped in?
From the outside, it may look like nothing changed. I am still in the same relationship, living in the same place, my business still faces the same challenges, and nothing has changed in my financial state either, and yet, nothing is the same any longer. It is all better, good, one might even say. So, what changed? My heart, my attitude, my understanding of where I am. See, it can be disappointing if you thought you were at the end, but are still in process in the making.
Comparison truly is the thief of all joy, and the worst is that sometimes (probably more often) we are comparing ourselves and our life situations not to others, but to what we think it is supposed to be. When it is not, a complete sense of devastation, a deep hopelessness, can take control of our hearts. (We must guard our hearts.)
Clarity on where I am in the process called life brought immense relief to me. And as God so often does, He sent a message of confirmation. It came in a YouTube clip dated several months ago, appearing in my feed. It was a clip by Joyce Meyers, and she explained how God sometimes give us a picture of what His plan is for our lives, and this picture is like the image on a box of puzzle pieces. Sure, the picture is magnificent, and we want that with all our hearts, so we buy the puzzle because it is so beautiful. At home, the disappointment sets in when we open the box and realise that we can have the picture, but still need to build the puzzle pieces.
God shows us what we want, and then provides all we need to create it with Him.
Of course, everybody knows how a puzzle works and that we need to build it, but we don’t recognise the same when it comes to God’s plans. We forget that there will be days when the pieces just won’t fit, or we can’t find the right piece, and then become despondent because what we got is not what we believed we were getting.
Another comparison is thinking that you bought a muffin. It looks amazing, and you’re ready to indulge, but then realise that it was muffin mix and you still have to bake it. If we’re not going to recognise that God gives us what we want, by giving us a vision and then all we need to make it happen as the Creator’s journey alongside the Creator is far more important than possessing something we desire, we’re bound to run into frustration over and again.
When that realisation kicks in, your entire perspective about where you are in life shifts. It is no longer a case of feeling insufficient or lacking, but one that excites, for not only do you have some creative freedom, you also know that you’re under the care of your Maker.
Two essential ingredients to this process are: faith in God that He has a plan and that He will guide you when you get stuck, when you struggle to make the pieces fit. The other is patience, and that is a hard one, for we’re accustomed to a world of instant gratification. Life happens at the press of a button, but not with God. With God, it truly is more about the journey than the destination, for it is in the journey that growth occurs, and our growth is far more important to God, to our eternal life, than our comfort.
So, today, think about all the puzzle pictures God has given you. Then, open the box and start putting the pieces together with faith and patience, knowing the Creator of the entire universe is your tutor. There is truly no better place to be. That change in perspective is how God changed my life, basically in a day.
Obviously, there are many more ways for God to do it, but let’s not miss the opportunities that are knocking on the door.
